Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $1.3 Billion After No Labor Day Winner

Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $1.3 Billion
The Powerball jackpot has skyrocketed to an incredible $1.3 billion after no player matched all six winning numbers in the Labor Day drawing, making it the fifth-largest jackpot in Powerball history.

The winning numbers drawn Monday night were 8, 23, 25, 40, 53, and the red Powerball 5, with a Power Play multiplier of 3.

Although no ticket claimed the grand prize, there were still several big winners:

  • Two tickets sold in Montana and North Carolina each scored $2 million.
  • Ten tickets across nine different states won $1 million each, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL).

When Is the Next Powerball Drawing?

The next chance to hit the jackpot will be Wednesday night, marking the 41st drawing since the last jackpot was won back in May.

A jackpot winner will face two payout options:

  • An annuitized prize of $1.3 billion spread over 30 years, with payments increasing by 5% annually.
  • A lump sum cash option estimated at $589 million, before taxes.

Odds of Winning

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot remain steep at 1 in 292.2 million. Still, millions continue to play for a shot at life-changing wealth.

Powerball Records

  • The largest Powerball jackpot ever was $2.04 billion, won in California in November 2022.
